The customs and Excise Department (CEPS) has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with textile manufacturers in part of its efforts to solve unfair competition.


The agreement between the two sides is finally signed because of textiles.

The Association agreed to cooperate with manufacturers in the first half of June.


The long-standing argument of the country's textile industry is that domestic textile products are facing unfair competition, because the import of cheap textiles to China has gradually become a threat to the survival of these domestic industries.


The Garner administration has delegated oversight responsibilities to the Ministry of trade and industry, and the Ministry of trade and industry will work out a strategy to ensure that all counterfeit textiles are smashed into China.

An official of the General Secretariat of the leather trade union said that they needed more or less financial assistance to help CEPS get counterfeit products.


Supplement: K.P. Chellamani, vice president of the southern India Textile Research Association, said that India's technical textiles market will double in the next 5 years, providing great opportunities for the development of the textile industry.


Speaking at a technical textile conference held on Monday, he said that the market for technical textiles will reach about 860 billion rupees in the next five years, double the current level of 430 billion rupees.


He said that all 12 areas of technical textiles will flourish, including the field of medical textiles.


The health care industry in India is expected to grow by about 20% per year and the per capita health expenditure is increasing.

This will help stimulate the growth of medical textiles.
