Due to pressure from all sides, the Ministry of commerce is considering the resumption of export of cotton waste. The forum pointed out that after the talks and lobbying were held in textile enterprises, the export motion was suspended.

The chairman of the forum, M. Sivakkannan, said that joining the reversal of this decision and allowing exports would only lead to the downturn in the home textiles industry and the garment industry.

The spinning enterprises that install the air spinning spinning machines produce coarse cotton yarn with waste cotton from the ring spinning mill, especially 6, 14, 16 and 20 roving, which are used to produce household textiles or to provide clothing enterprises.

It is estimated that there are about 2 million 700 thousand packages of waste cotton in India each year, but more than 1/4 of the waste cotton has been exported.

Domestic consumption is about 2 million 350 thousand bales.

Exports caused a shortage of waste cotton and increased prices, resulting in artificially short supply.

Meanwhile, the prices of low fiber cotton varieties Bangla Deshi and J 34 were also pushed up.

These varieties are mixed with waste cotton and spin out 10, 14, 16 and 20 yarns.

Combed waste cotton in December 2007, the quarterly price was about 35-36 rupees / kg, and rose to 52 rupees / kg in the middle of 2009.

The export of cotton waste only benefits a small number of exporters, and they may not even play an active role in the development of the textile industry.

The forum pointed out that in the past, the export of waste cotton had a devastating effect on the household textile industry.
