Ministry Of Commerce: Turkmenistan Greatly Increases Cotton Ginning Capacity

Turkmenistan oriental.com reported on February 18 that the cotton ginning output of Turkmenistan from January to November 2020 increased by more than 28% compared with the same period in 2019, thanks to government policies and new production capacity. In 2018, the government of Turkmenistan decided that all cotton planted nationwide should be processed from 2019. In 2020, two large-scale cotton mills in Turkmenistan will be modernized. In 2020, the cotton fiber output of Turkmenistan will increase by 22.6% compared with that in 2019, and the cotton yarn output will increase by 3.9%. From January to November 2020, the export volume of textile products produced by state-owned enterprises in Turkmenistan increased significantly, 13.4% higher than that of the same period in 2019.

The textile and flower ginning industry plays an important role in the diversification of Turkmenistan's economy and the promotion of employment, and the increase of production capacity in this area can help to improve the well-being of the people. In order to maintain the momentum of production growth, the Ministry of textile industry of Turkmenistan plans to upgrade one textile mill and increase the production capacity of two cotton mills this year. In addition, Turkmenistan will put into operation two large textile complexes in July and August this year, with an annual output of 3650 tons of compact pure cotton yarn, 12 million square meters of high-quality fabrics for sewing, 3300 tons of fine and dense fiber yarn and 20 million square meters of high-quality fabrics.
